  • Coca Cola

  • The website ThisAmericanLife. org published a picture (above) of what they claim is the recipe for Coke.  The picture is a black and white snapshot of a notebook that was originally published in the  Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1979. They claim that this is the recipe for the actual flavor of Coke.  It is rumored that the original recipe (shout out to Colonel Sanders) is kept in a vault and guarded 24 hours a day.  But here is the recipe….I’m thirsty now for some reason:

Fluid extract of Coca 3 drams USP
Citric acid 3 oz
Caffeine 1oz
Sugar 30 (it is unclear from the markings what quantity is required)
Water 2.5 gal
Lime juice 2 pints 1 qrt
Vanilla 1oz
Caramel 1.5oz or more to colour

7X flavour (use 2oz of flavour to 5 gals syrup):
Alcohol 8oz
Orange oil 20 drops
Lemon oil 30 drops
Nutmeg oil 10 drops
Coriander 5 drops
Neroli 10 drops
Cinnamon 10 drops

  • It was originally created in 1886
  • The photo was published in 1979
  • And the article came out this week

  • Atlanta, Hot-Lanta, the ATL

  • They published it because it’s one of the most closely guarded secrets in American business.  If its not for real, this website is getting a lot of traffic.  Money, is the answer.
